Point against Point is a group exhibition that includes artistic projects based on the concept of two opposing layers, that even though sometimes contradictory correlate with each other in a fascinating and unexpected way.
The title Point against Point refers to the idea of “counterpoint”, describing a technique of playing two or more independent musical lines that harmonize in an intriguing way when played simultaneously. It involves two opposing but complementary dimensions: horizontal, which stands for the shape and direction of each musical line; and vertical, which concerns the synthesis of sounds played simultaneously.
Similarly, each project included in the exhibition is constructed around two different and opposing dimensions: the horizontal (subject matter, character, atmosphere, time, spirit) and the vertical (synthesis, harmony, correlation).
In a loosely connected way all envisioned artworks should be constructed in such a way that opposing forces merge into a magic and sublime expression.
All participating artists are Korean and living and working in Northern Europe (mostly Amsterdam). Arti et Amicitiae Rokin 112 1012 LB Amsterdam Open: Tue-Sun 12:00-18:00
